Created and curated by designer Isao Takezawa this exhibition presents a design concept that integrates two opposing approaches: ‘traditional craftsmanship’ and ‘technological innovation’. Takezawa aims to blend these approaches to create custom furniture that’s approachable for everyone.
Isao Takezawa
Isao Takezawa works across many design disciplines and scale, ranging from products and furniture to interior spaces.
After completing his studies at the Rhode Island School of Design (USA) in Furniture Design, Isao was recruited by internationally renowned architecture firm Eight Inc. During his time at Eight Isao was responsible for the design of Retail Fixtures for Apple, Citibank, and Tourneau, just to name a few.
Currently Head of the Design Department at ARA Building, an integrated services business that delivers turnkey building solutions, Takezawa designs for commercial spaces and residential homes.
Additional studies and design experience include:
- woodworking apprenticeship at Oak Village in Hida Takayama (Japan)
- exhibition and industrial design studies at Nuova Accademia di Belli Arti in Milan (Italy)
- product design assistant at Nendo in Tokyo (Japan), and
- design advisor at Musashino Art University in Tokyo (Japan)
