$325 for the 7 week course
$295 if booked  by 26 April 2019

This seven week drawing course is a follow up to the Drawing I: Elements of Drawing for beginners where we use the new drawing skills to the extended study of pictorial composition.

The principles of composition are general guidelines for pictorial structure that helps build the cohesive organisation of the drawing elements such as line, value, and form. A well organised structure can move the eye across and through the picture plane through the use of devices such as repetition, rhythm, contrast, and movement. The principles are applied with flexibility and as with most theory the knowledge is what we fall back on when designs or compositions aren’t working and we need to work out why.

During this course students extend themselves and take ownership their artworks through planning and organising their own compositions.

Each student has a plan drawer to store their drawings and materials.

Week 1:  Movement
Week 2:  Repetition
Week 3:  Proportion
Week 4:  Balance
Week 5:  Rhythm
Week 6:  Contrast
Week 7:  Emphasis
