The Gallery

We currently have two exhibition slots in September and October 2024 available

We welcome exhibition proposals from artists and curators, for both group and solo shows. Scratch Art Space supports artists and recent graduates.

The Gallery has high street visibility with full glass frontage and a showcase window on Sydenham Road. Located at the centre of the creative industrial area next to Sydenham Train Station, only a five minute walk from the station located adjacent to Batch Brewery.

We can easily accommodate most artists installation requirements from ceiling-suspended works to direct installation into walls, a professional gallery hanging system and plinths available. The Gallery can be blacked out for video or image-based works with sound system and digital projectors available.

For over-sized artworks we have a back lane access through the studios into the Gallery.

We currently have 3,700 followers on Instagram, and 3,700+ Facebook followers with over 4k reach, , plus an extensive email subscriber network.

How to Apply

Send us your Exhibition Proposal including:

– Statement about your exhibition concept (400 words)
– 3 to 5 images of proposed or previous work
– Artist or Curator’s curriculum vitae
– Preferred dates for exhibition

Any other important information, including installation requirements.

Please note that pricing does not include opening night expenses or insurance for damage or theft of artworks.  

Installation and deinstallation of the exhibition is the responsibility of the artist. We provide tools and equipment for install and can provide installation staff at $30 per hour for a minimum of 3 hours.

Artists are encouraged to be in the gallery on Saturdays and Sundays, however we are able to sit the space for an additional staff expense of $150 per day.

SAS Mentor Program for Solo Exhibitions

We have established a mentoring program for recent fine art graduates to help develop their practice beyond University. The Program provides support during the lead up to a solo exhibition scheduled annually for two artists in October.
