Drawing with a Device

We have opened out this two day workshop so you can choose to take either both days or if you already have drawing skills, only Day 2.

Day 1 covers basic drawing techniques on paper that translate smoothly to drawing with a device.
Day 2 covers adapting those techniques to drawing with an electronic device.

Day 1 & 2 is $290, includes all materials for drawing skills on Day 1. We can assist you with downloading the drawing app Procreate on this day.

Day 2 is $130, if you already have drawiing skills then simply bring your own tablet and/or phone with Procreate app installed (available online for $10) and a stylus (base price starts at $5).

This two-day event is the perfect workshop for anyone wanting to use draw with an electronic device, anytime, anywhere. The workshop begins with simple charcoal on paper drawing techniques that can translate to drawing with a tablet or phone.

Artist Rocco Fazzari‘s long career at the Sydney Morning Herald provided the perfect opportunity to adapt and innovate his drawing skills and techniques for the new technology adopted by the flagship newspaper. Rocco expanded his skills from straight forward drawing to drawing on a device, and creating animations.

The workshop will cover –

Basic drawing skills that will be translated when using the device
Basic colour management that can be applied to a device
Introduction and use of Procreate, an award winning app for drawing & painting on a device.
How the stylus is used to emulate pencil or charcoal
The advantages of using an electronic device for spontaneous observation drawings, as well as long, layered images with colour and texture.
How an electronic device can extend and enhance the creative process including images that can be used as a pathway for animation or video-making.

The workshop runs on two consecutive Sundays, 10 – 3pm.
