We’re happy to introduce Chris Ryan who is a Sydney-born and bred artist, and musician.

I’ve always loved drawing and I’m quite fastidious in saving all my images, even the ones that don’t quite work. They inevitably find a place, usually chopped up into collages. I always find the creative process very therapeutic, I love coming home from work and study and chipping away at my projects. They are my children, I love them all yet I do have my favourites. I have a limited educational experience. I became very sick in my HSC yet I still achieved high marks in Visual Art and Science. I have always been weak at Mathematics which is odd as many of my pieces have strong mathematical designs. I love playing drums and currently have 29 albums available on the digital world.  Music is good for the soul. The title of my exhibition Trench the Mind is a reference to my daydreaming tendency and the occasional necessity of focusing one’s attention. I also think it reflects on my desire to create optical illusion, movement and juxtaposition of bright colours with dark themes.
