Salon des Refusés 2024

Contratulations to Scratch Founder & Artist Carmel Francesca for her selection for the 2024 Salon des Refusés Exhibition

You can see Carmel’s portrait of actor Sarah Greenwood in this year’s  Salon des Refusés.  Sarah Greenwood is an up and coming Australian actor and we’re so glad her portrait made the Salon.  

In the making of the portrait studies there was one story Sarah relayed. She was once caught in a rip and couldn’t reach the sandy bottom, panicked she struggled to break the surface, drinking in salt water.  

I took a simple, minimalist approach for this painting of Sarah post-ordeal wrapped in just a towel. She has now a heightened vulnerability and is somehow wiser and more open to her experiences to become a most sensitive actor. 

You can see the work at the S. H. Ervin Gallery from June 8 – 24 August 2024 & then the show travels to the David Roche Foundation in Adelaide, from 6 September – 26 October 2024
